Xiaping Lu entered the Decision, Risk and Financial Sciences PhD program in 2017. Her research focuses on investigating the psychological and neural foundations of how people make choices during social interaction with an interdisciplinary perspective.

She graduated with a Master of Science in cognitive neuroscience from Beijing Normal University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from South China Normal University. Her past research is to explore the degree to which the intrinsic activity of human brain can predict social decision-making by recruiting functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) techniques and paradigms developed in experimental economics.
